The Male Approach To Cosmetic Surgery Consultation

The basic difference between male and female rhinoplasty lies in the purpose behind it. Men are more inclined towards the revitalization of their facial appearance, as opposed to women, who are generally looking for a more glamorous look. Plastic surgeons usually find it easier to communicate with male patients since the general perception is that they are relatively more pragmatic and straight-forward, making it easier to understand their needs and simplify the rhinoplasty.

The reason why male patients are preferred in rhinoplasty is because it is imperative for the surgeon to know the likes and dislikes of the patient, along with other vital information to ensure the achievement of desired results. A specific reason behind getting rhinoplasty may also prove to be pivotal; it could be related to dating, ageing or career. Men are generally more forthcoming about their lives and readily provide vital information to make the surgeon's job easier.

In the wake of high-profile botched up surgeries and rhinoplasty treatments in the recent past, namely Michael Jackson et al, most men have become more apprehensive about going through cosmetic surgery. They should realize that such cases are usually due to a result of multiple surgeries on the same area; otherwise, the margin for error is infinitesimal.

Most surgeons are of the opinion that males are more inclined towards trivializing their needs, which is good news since it helps the surgeon better understand what exactly the patient requires to be done. However, the only problem arises when the talk turns to medical history. Males usually tend to be a bit shifty about their health problems and generally downplay any afflictions like headaches or chest pains. However, during a rhinoplasty procedure, it is important for the surgeon to know the medical history, understand what needs to be done and avoided during the surgery to prevent any complications from arising. This can be solved by encouraging patients to undertake a complete medical examination and go over their past medical records or talk to their physician.
